Despite substantial contributions, the Mining Industry in D. R. Congo is not well supported with Research and Development as compared to mining industries in other countries. With a vision of progressive development, Somika has proposed to develop and establish, technologies that can be used by Mining Industry to create new products, reduce production cost and meet environmental regulations.

Somika is committed in supporting economic development in the region. STDC will provide access to technological education opportunities necessary for the region, as well as development opportunities for area professionals. STDC aims to conduct research, develop technology and provide analytical support through state-of-the art instrumentation and well-equipped laboratory.
